Lesson 6 of 6 · 5 min read
Working as a freelancer
Your own workspace outside any organisation — your GitLab, code search and Claude account — with reviews and merges done as you on GitLab.
What you’ll learn
- How to sign up as a freelancer and set up your workspace.
- How code reviews and merging work on your own GitLab.
- What happens when a client's organisation invites you.
When freelancers are available on your platform, the sign-up page asks How will you use Livra? Pick On my own, as a freelancer and create your account with a password. You get your own workspace, with freelancer prices and trial set by your platform, apart from organisations.
Set up your workspace
- Settings › Connectors — add your GitLab (its address and your personal access token) and your code search (Sourcebot), plus any other kind offered. They are your own accounts: Claude works with them.
- Settings › Claude and cost — your Claude account: an API key, your cloud, or your own Claude Code. Or, when your platform offers it, Livra Claude: prepaid credit, no account to set up.
- Start a feature from tickets, or from a description of the change if your workspace works without an issue tracker.
The getting-started list on All features ticks itself as you go.
Code reviews and merging
Code reviews in the sidebar lists merge requests on your GitLab: those you're asked to review, yours, and those assigned to you. Open one to comment (on a line too), approve, reply to and resolve threads, pick reviewers, and merge. Everything is done as you on GitLab, so what your GitLab account may do there decides.
When a client invites you
A client's organisation can invite your email. Open the link, sign in, and read what happens: you join as a Developer, and your own workspace is paused — kept, read-only — until you leave. In Connected accounts, Leave … brings you back to it as it was.
